🌟Let’s talk about our health - We invite you to join us in a series of focus groups designed to understand and address the unique health needs of our diverse community. At the heart of our mission lies a commitment to fostering a healthier, more vibrant LGBTQ+ community.
🌎 Your Voice Matters - We recognise that the LGBTQ+ community has been historically underrepresented in healthcare discussions. This initiative seeks to bridge that gap by amplifying our voices and shedding light on issues that often go unnoticed. Together, let's create a platform where every voice, from every corner of our community, is heard and valued.
🚀 Why Focus Groups Matter - We're aiming to tackle the gaps in our healthcare system that often leave LGBTQ+ needs overlooked. By being a part of these focus groups, you're playing a crucial role in shaping healthcare that's fairer and more attuned to what matters most to us.
🌸 Join us - The focus groups will be held at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre and facilitated by Dr Andrew Ghobrial who currently works in HIV and sexual health in London and is a researcher at UCL interested in health inequalities.
🔍 Exploring Key issues - Throughout our sessions we will be talking about all aspects of NHS care including experiences of healthcare encounters, navigating the system, availability of information, physical spaces, unmet needs and structural factors that impact how we interact with the service.

Sessions will be facilitated by Dr Andrew Ghobrial
Dr Andrew Ghobrial is a clinician currently working in HIV and Sexual Health at the Mortimer Market Centre in London. He is a mixed methods researcher based at UCL with an interest in health inequalities and LGBTQ+ health needs. Andrew is a cis gay Egyptian Londoner and his pronouns are he/him.
Who is organising and funding this research?
The project is being led and carried out by the London London LGBTQ+ Community Centre. Our organisation provides London with a sober, intersectional community centre and café where all LGBTQ+ people are welcome and supported. The Centre is for LGBTQ+ people of all ages, from all backgrounds, faiths and walks of life.
We have received funding from the Community Action for Partnerships in Health grant scheme through a collaboration between the NHS Legacy and Health Equity Partnership (LHEP) and the Greater London Authority (GLA).
This research project is independent, impartial and does not have any conflicts of interest.
All learnings and recommendations will be compiled in a report that will be shared with the NHS and other key stakeholders, like Southwark Council.
