About this event
This workshop was made possible thanks to the Media Literacy Programme Fund from the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology.
About this workshop:
Evidence shows that LGBTQIA+ folk are disproportionately more likely to be harassed online, especially when outspoken and actively sharing. We at Glitch think it's just as important that people are able to take care of themselves online as offline, and create and maintain joyful online spaces.
This workshop will support you to:
- Learn more about online abuse and its many forms
- Be aware of what information is available about you online without you knowing and how people may use it
- Take practical steps to avoid sharing what you don't want with the internet and keep your community safe online, including spotting, supporting and reporting.
It is not the responsibility of the victims of online abuse to protect themselves and deal with its lasting effects, and Glitch is doing everything it can do to hold decision-makers accountable and stop the problem at its core. In the meantime, our workshops will equip participants to navigate the online landscape with confidence.
We want to help people of all ages, backgrounds and political affiliations to overcome the barrier of online abuse and feel more confident to use online platforms in order to use their voices online.
T his workshop is exclusively for members of the London LGBTQ+ Centre. However Glitch are running open workshops for Black women and LGBTQIA+ folk across October - December which are open to the public.
There are only 30 slots available for these workshops so sign up quickly to secure your spot, or feel free share with your networks. Digital Self-Care won't be covered in your workshop, so if you would like to find out more about setting boundaries and a social policy around your online presence sign up below.
