Looking to meet other mindful singles?
HOKU is a mindful dating experience for people who want to connect more genuinely — beyond apps, performance, superficial small talk and bars where the music is too loud to hear anything.
Through playful guided experiences, conversation, music, movement, and shared presence, we create a relaxed and intentional space to meet new people more openly and naturally.
Inspired by mindfulness, conscious relating, embodiment, and tea ceremony culture, these evenings are about slowing down, putting our phones away, and remembering what human connection can feel like when we’re actually present.
Maybe you meet someone and feel a spark that grows into something deeper. Maybe you make new friends, have a conversation you didn’t expect, or simply spend an evening feeling a little more connected and alive. That in itself is already something valuable.
This is not speed dating, and it’s not a sex party. There are no three-minute rotations or pressure to decide whether someone is a match. The focus is on curiosity, authentic connection, playfulness, and creating a welcoming, non-judgmental space where people can simply be themselves.
What to expect
The guided part of the evening lasts approximately 3 hours. We’ll move through a variety of conversations, prompts, playful exercises, movement, music, and different ways of meeting one another. Everything is facilitated, but participation is always invitational.
Tea and light snacks are served throughout the evening.
And you don’t have to rush off when the guided portion ends. There is time afterward to stay, mingle, talk, dance, have another cup of tea, exchange numbers, and continue connecting naturally.
Age groups, cities & who can join
HOKU hosts dating events for different age groups and in multiple cities, so please check the event title and our full event list to make sure you’re booking the event that suits you best.
The age ranges are guidelines, not hard cut-offs. If you’re slightly younger or older but genuinely feel that this age group reflects your dating pool, you’re very welcome to join.
All genders and orientations are welcome. For events that include heterosexual dating, we aim to maintain a relative gender balance. We also host special editions for polyamorous and open relationship structures — check our other events for upcoming dates.
A few practical things
Wear clothes you can comfortably move in, sit in, dance in, and feel good in.
The event is alcohol- and drug-free. Anyone who arrives visibly intoxicated, behaves in an openly prejudiced or discriminatory way, or repeatedly crosses another person’s stated boundaries will be asked to leave without a refund.
This event will primarily be facilitated in English. I also speak Dutch, so clarification or translation can absolutely be provided whenever needed. And if the group happens to be entirely Dutch-speaking, we may naturally move between the two languages. Please feel welcome to express yourself in either (or any :) language during the event.
There is plenty of parking at this venue (free on weekends and after 19:00 weekdays).
Metrostation Isolatorweg (lines 50 & 51) is just a few minutes’ walk from the venue. For people coming from outside Amsterdam, Amsterdam Sloterdijk is the nearest major NS train station, about 1.4 km away, and they can transfer there to the metro toward Isolatorweg.
We like to take photos at our event, sometimes for use on social media to show other potential guests what our events are like. If you prefer not to be photographed or featured in any video reels, please let the staff know and we will absolutely respect this.
