Centered around reclaiming and rebalancing the power in the phrase: ‘Where are you from from?’
A question we are all so familiar with; as QTIBiPOC’s, we can have complex identities that are influenced by different facets of culture, ethnicity, race, religion, gender, sexuality, colonialism and migration.
Our identities can transcend physical borders, be made up of multiple borders or exist in the space in between.
We are expected to be reduced down to a singular entity which is palatable and ‘easy to understand’ for the white cis-hetero gaze.
This workshop is about exploring, affirming and reclaiming those multiple complexities and facets of our identities in a creative and care centered environment. We will create a decolonial reading of ‘where we are actually from’, through our own lens.
The workshop will include a large scale collaborative mapping exercise where we decolonise and remap our identities through collage.
This workshop is an extension of the QPOC Projects iconic WAYFF club night - as a way to further explore and celebrate QTIPOC identities in a creative space.
It will be hosted by artist/designer Aaran Sian in collaboration with the QPOC Project.

Covid and mpox safety at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre:
To keep our community safe, we ask that all visitors do not visit the Centre if they are feeling any Covid-19 and/or mpox symptoms including headache, fever, sore throat, consistent cough, chills and unusual spots, scabs or ulcers.
You can wear a mask if you feel more comfortable. We also have masks and hand sanitiser available at the Centre.
