About this event

An unpaid adult carer is anyone looking after another adult who has difficulties supporting themselves in everyday life. It may be a relative, a partner, a friend, even a neighbour.

It can be demanding for them personally and may affect their wellbeing, relationships and finances. Many carers are seldom aware of their status and the support available to them. At Carers Network, we aim to ensure that no carer is left to cope alone.

In this talk, we will discuss the topic of unpaid adult caring in detail. We will explain how to register as a carer, what is a Carers Assessment, and who can claim the Carers Allowance.

We will also look into how you, if not a carer yourself, can help someone who is, by signposting the relevant services to them, or become one of our volunteers.

About the organiser:

Carers Network is a registered charity. This year we celebrate the 30th anniversary of supporting unpaid adult carers in the three boroughs of central London: Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea, and the City of Westminster. We provide advice on housing and benefits, carry out Carers Assessments, link the carers with local services, and offer counselling.

Igor Novokreshchenov is their Community Development Officer, managing their outreach project Carers Found.
