About this event
As always with our Queer Platonic Coparenting events, this is for queer people who are interested in raising children collectively. But this event differs from previous ones in that it's going to be mainly focused on getting people with existing children to meet other people who would like to provide support to them (practical, emotional, financial, or other). This could be anywhere from a 'bonus' aunt/uncle/godparent with occasional involvement, all the way through to possibly becoming another primary caregiver.
The children themselves are welcome, of course - but if you'd like to come without them that's also great. We'll have a sticker system for those with children (parents) and those without ('sharents') to identify themselves. Some people may of course be in both groups - parents looking to team up with other parents! You can absolutely just be exploring the idea at this stage, with no idea what that would look like exactly. Further details to be found on our instagram nearer the time.
About the facilitators:
Formed out of an event at the LGBTQ+ Community Centre in January 2023, the Queer Platonic Coparenting organising group aim to create infrastructure for people who are looking to explore queer platonic coparenting. They run the instagram account @queerplatoniccoparenting and a newsletter (queerplatoniccoparenting.substack.com). Get in touch if you want to help out too!'
