I HAVE ARRIVED: The Launch Party!
Join us for a special edition of Queer Open Mic on 20th September 2026, where facilitator, Manny, launches his new spoken word project: I HAVE ARRIVED.
About the project:
“I’ve stepped out stronger into a new unknown place!!! But what mysteries lies in this unknown place? This is a direct sequel to Steppin’ Out Stronger.
In this spoken word project I’m adventuring in a new place and it’s going to have a sprinkle of Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Adventure and a few other genres, more spoken word rap this time around exploring more wordplay, rap, rhythmical pieces, monologues and a few other things. I also open up and share a few things, I’m ready to talk about.
I feel like I’ve grown a lot more in my writing and in myself since stepping out stronger, also since my first spoken word project (Beauty Within The Cracks) when I was 24. Throughout ‘I HAVE ARRIVED’ I reflect on my 20’s, but also live in the moment and look forward to see what life brings. It’s all about having some fun, as I spent so long thinking I wasn't good enough, that I didn't deserve the same opportunities as others, or that I wasn't smart enough; but I had to work on that.
I hope you're ready for an exciting journey exploring this unknown place.”
Queer Open Mic
Come, take the mic and talk/sing/dance/perform in whichever way you see fit. All performances are welcome.
We want to cultivate a welcoming energy where we all feel comfortable to stand in front of people and just go for it!
If you want to just sit and relax or don't know for sure whether you are up for performing with an audience, you're also welcome to come and take a look at what’s on. Maybe you find the inspiration to take the mic next time.
Instruments aren't available, but you're welcome to bring your own.
Time will be limited to five minutes per appearance. You can sign up more than once if there is enough space.

About the Facilitator
Emmanuel (Manny) Carriere (he/him) is a performer and writer from East London, graduating from the University of Roehampton with a degree in Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies.
Manny is a spoken word artist who connects spoken word with movement, acting, music and dance.

To keep our community safe, we ask that all visitors do not visit the Centre if they are feeling unwell including headache, fever, sore throat, consistent cough and chills.
You can wear a mask if you feel more comfortable. We also have masks and hand sanitiser available at the Centre.
