About this event
In a big celebration of queerness and football, past and present, November Theatre are running a series of creative, laid back, flag and banner making workshops across London and the UK.
Our workshops are running alongside the development of our show PITCH, a devised, documentary show about Football and the LGBTQIA+ community.
The relationship between football and queerness is complex and compelling - for some it’s euphoric, for some it's dysphoric, and cultural differences between the men’s and women’s game are vast and jarring. Pitch will dig under the surface of the world’s most popular sport and celebrate football in an arena it’s only tentatively being allowed to occupy: a queer one.
Exploring an object that has cultural history in both football and queer communities, our 2 hour workshop will delve into the history of the pride flag, share some stories from political footie history and give you the opportunity to make your own banner and record your own experiences in a safe and joyful environment.
This is an all abilities workshop, our workshop spaces are relaxed, and participation is free. You can find an access pack on our website for more information about what to expect.
