About this event

The first LGBTQ+ Sewing Group session will be a tester to see how popular it is and hopefully it can become a regular space to build a community through.

The group is be open to people of all levels of expertise and ability.

If you have your own sewing kit, you're welcome to bring it with you! (And select the £10 ticket option)

For folks who don't have a kit, you can buy the £17 ticket which will include a kit. The case has needles, thread scissors, various colours of thread, a tape measure, pins and lots handy case containing things like needles, thread scissors, various colours of thread, a tape measure, pins. A needle threader will also be included for those who may struggle with vision or fine motor skills, so you're able to thread!

In our first session, we'll mainly focus on learning basic techniques as well as just getting to know everyone.

Once you've booked your space, you should have a link to a Discord server shared with you so that we can all chat and introduce ourselves before the season. This will be emailed via Eventbrite. Please note the Centre doesn't manage this Discord channel.

Since this group is open to people of all ages, all conversation should be age-appropriate. Any inappropriate or disrespectful behaviour will not be tolerated and you will be asked to leave/not attend.

About the organiser:

Eden (they/them) has loved sewing their entire life. They joined a sewing club in primary school and studied textiles from Year 7 to GCSE and A level.

Eden placed as a finalist in the Young Fashion Designers (YFD) Awards 2022 and won an award for design construction. Since then, they've worked as a costumier on a UK tour with a ballet company from December 22 and January 23.

They're also a cosplayer who goes to multiple cons a year and often designs and makes their cosplays.

Covid and mpox safety at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre:

To keep our community safe, we ask that all visitors do not visit the centre if they are feeling any Covid-19 and/or mpox symptoms including headache, fever, sore throat, consistent cough, chills and unusual spots, scabs or ulcers.

You can wear a mask if you feel more comfortable. We also have masks and hand sanitiser available at the Centre.
