About this event
Improve your Mandarin Chinese and meet new people in an LGBTQ+ space! Join us for an informal conversation group, welcoming Mandarin Chinese learners of all levels.
Conversation will be led by our facilitators Qiuyan and Andrew, and will include questions, small exercises and open conversation.
This taster session will also be a chance to discuss what you’d like from the group, and to discuss a regular time slot that would work for all participants going forward.
Please note: this is not a formal class, and is designed for people who are learning Mandarin Chinese independently.
About the facilitators:
Qiuyan (she/her) was born and raised in Southern China and moved to the UK in 2018. She has 8 years of experience in queer activism, community building and intercultural communication. She established Queer China UK after realising the intersectional invisibility of the Chinese LGBTQ+ community.
Andrew (they/them) studied Chinese Studies at university, as well as spending 7 years in China studying Mandarin, volunteering and working for the UK government (including on LGBT rights). Since returning to the UK they have led guided tours in Mandarin for Chinese tourists and tutored Mandarin to beginner learners.
