As part of LGBTQ+ History Month, we will uncloset some of the most popular LGTBQ+ untold stories. Stories that we will use as an inspiration to create a fancy collage in the purest LIFE magazine cover!
With this workshop we aim to learn about queer geniousies that have been an inspiration for many and whose achivements had a big impact in our current society but yet, they were stigmatised for their sexualilty and were closeted in one way or another. We aim to move from visualisation to visibility to celebration, putting all these great icons on the front cover of our society.
In this workshop you expect to listen, chat (if you feel like) and to get hands on creating a collage. No artistic experience is expected, we just want you to have fun and leave the centre with a few inspiring stories.
About the organiser:
Maria Gonzalez (she/her) is the founder and Creative Director at Lon-art, an arts organisation that aims to raise awareness about social issues through the arts. In 2018 she created Sheroes project to amplify women voices through the art made by women artists. Since then, she has curated five exhibitions (3 physical and 2 online) and created several educational workshops and talks for people to join the conversation. She is also an art educator and has been leading alternative tours at the National Gallery and other museums since 2015 to re-think the History of art from a gender perspective. She is passionate about art, history, social change, but especially about using art to make the invisible visible.
