The Gay Liberation Front (est 1970) is collectively committed to fighting for liberation for all. 2020 was the 50th anniversary of the start of Gay Liberation in London, the moment everything changed in Britain by giving us Coming Out, Gay Pride and the first Gay Pride March in 1972, making 2022 the 50th anniversary of that political demonstration and celebration.
This gathering is a space for all Gay Liberation Front (GLF) activists and new friends to connect, celebrate and plot our ongoing freedom. There are some exciting ideas to pay tribute to all who fought for liberation, and continue the fight for absolute freedom for all.
The GLF meetup will take place from 3-6pm.
Please join us from 6-8pm for an LGBT History Month panel discussion with some of the pioneers of our movement from the Gay Liberation Front, including Stuart Feather, Andrew Lumsden, Nettie Pollard and Ted Brown.
About the organiser:
Dan Glass is an ‘Aids Coalition to Unleash Power (ACT UP) healthcare and human rights activist, performer, presenter and writer. Dan has been recognised as 'Activist of the Year' with the 'Sexual Freedom Awards' and was announced a 'BBC Greater Londoner' for founding 'Queer Tours of London - A Mince Through Time. His book United Queerdom: From the Legends of the Gay Liberation Front to the Queers of Tomorrow was recognised as Observer book of the week June. Dan recently founded self-defence empowerment programme Bender Defenders and Queer Night Pride to confront rising hate crime.
