Gain an understanding of different digital techniques in this informal workshop.
To start, we will briefly traverse the history of digital art, giving particular notice to figures who have elevated digital mediums to their current form.
Following that, we will discuss the planning phase of creating digital art, looking at how this is informed by what you want to communicate and which software you are using to create your artwork.
Afterwards, you will learn the basics of photoshop and how to glitch images by going into their code. We will also go through the different applications programming has in fine art and the creative industry investigating Processing, an open source software geared at creatives wanting to incorporate programming into their artwork.
There is no need to bring anything to this workshop, and no experience is necessary!
About the facilitator:
Mars Oliver (they/them), also known as Spontaneous Objects, is a digital artist based in Bristol who explores sexuality, gender and consumerism throughout their practice. They have spent the last four years working on a project that removes items and scenes from their context, giving every object the same treatment by placing them on a white background in the hope of challenging society's value systems.
