About this event

This Dance for Wellbeing workshop invites non-binary, trans people and queer women to move, connect and be creative. Together, we want to create a caring space that allows us to connect with our bodies and explore our creativity.

The workshop will take a gentle approach to dancing, allowing you to go at your own pace and move in your own way. It will include a warm-up, playful creative tasks, (optional) partner work, relaxation and a cool down. Throughout, there will be moments to reflect through talking, freewriting or drawing.

There is no prior experience required. This is a great opportunity for you to try something new, connect with your body, develop your confidence in dance, explore your creativity and boogie!

As part of the wellbeing/mental health workshop series, this workshop supports participants in connecting to their emotions and body through movement, creates a caring space to be creative with your peers and reflect on emotions or themes that might come up during the session.

A bout the facilitator:

This workshop is led by Elena Alava Hilgert (she/they), who is a London-based community dance artist and recent graduate from the MA Dance Leadership and Community Practice.

Elena’s interest lies in creating accessible dance spaces for different communities, specifically the LGBTQ+ community.
