About this event

We are hosting a Community Listening Day on Saturday 31 August from 1 to 5pm at the Centre!

Our vision is for a more connected, belonging and thriving LGBTQ+ community in London. After two and a half years open, we want to continue learning how the Centre is impacting you.

This research will be key in helping us prove our impact to current and future funders, therefore securing the future of the Centre.

We'd love you to pop in and tell us about your experience at the Centre!

We will provide a delicious free lunch at 1pm from Coco Di Mama - first come, first served.

Lunch will be followed by three creative workshops to choose from - at 2pm and again at 3pm.

There will also be a corner for kids with lego and crafting items if you'd like to bring along your little ones.

The workshops will be asking:

  • How do I experience the Centre?
  • What does the Centre mean to me?
  • How do I feel when I come to the Centre?

Ceramics

Bisila Noha (she/her) is the Centre's General Manager and a ceramic artist.

With her work, she aims to challenge Western views on art and craft and to reflect upon the idea of home and oneness pulling from personal experiences in different pottery communities around the world. You can check out her ceramics here.

She'll be hosting a table where you can use clay to express any aspects of your feelings about the Centre.

Collage with In My Cerebellum

We have an experienced facilitator who will guide you through using collage to represent your experience of the Centre.

Creative Writing

Hannah Clark (she/they) facilitates the Sci-Fi and Fantasy Writing Group at the Centre.

She will be leading a workshop using writing exercises to help you express yourself in words.

There will also be opportunities to create short videos describing how you feel about the Centre, filmed by our comms team.

What we want to learn

We want to celebrate the positives of the Centre and how we can continue to make the improve the space!

This will help encourage new people to visit and make sure we keep offering events that people want. Your views will be extremely important to make this happen.

We especially want to know:

  • how coming to the Centre impacts visitors’ health and wellbeing
  • how the Centre helps visitors feel they belong within LGBTQ+ communities
  • how useful and effective our signposting services are
  • how well we reach marginalised groups

Donate to the Centre We rely on donations to ensure that the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre can keep its doors open for years to come.
